MEDIA SPARKLE revised and final.
MEDIA SPARKLE Idea Enhancement
COLOR QUOTES(Mind Generated)
QUOTE 1 "People observe the colors of a day only at its beginnings and endings, but to me it's quite clear that a day merges through a multitude of shades and intonations, with each passing moment. A single hour can consist of thousands of different colors. Murky darkness. In my line of work, I make it a point to notice them."
~jacque~DM
QUOTE 2 "The idea of linking color and behavior is reasonable enough. Anyone who has ever felt blue, seen red, blacked out, or turned green knows we're prone to make emotional associations with different shades." ~jacque~DM
QUOTE 3 "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." ~jacque~DM
0.0 TITLE: MEDIA SPARKLE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
A Media sparkle is an interactive installation surface that will induce graphical visuals that are circular like, swirl form, curls to represent a water circulation with the essence of a color wheel and will respond to the user's activity with his/her fingure tips, where by the user will place a fingure on any area of the sparkle base and when the surface senses a touch it produce continual flow of unique visuals of different colors appearing with sound in the background and when the user's fingure is withdrawn, the visuals will also withdraw plus the sound will stop. My concern in this project is to create a system that will respond friendly to physical and natural touch by multiple users.
2.0 BACKGROUND
I got this idea when i was playing in water with my fingure tips and every time i placed my fingure tips in water there were circular visuals that i CLEARLY AND CLOSELY saw and so i brought it to an idea of what if its projected on a surface how beautiful would it look?
2.1 JUSTIFICATION(motivation)
The issue behind this idea is to have experience, to explore digitized colors, use of space to enhance digital knowledge and also bring about a color wheel from paper to interactive installation. Graphical interactive experience of color communication and color symbolism.
3.0 OBJECTIVES
To have experience in the touch sensitive technology.
To create a system that responds friendly to physical/natural touch on the surface.
To experience a continual flow of unique and fleeting touch.
To portray art and beauty through response to physical touch.
To create a sense of exploration and an eye opener to beauty exposed in digital form or installation.
To enhance digital knowledge.
4.0 TARGET AUDIENCE
Am targeting students interested in interaction and installation and audience that has an eye for technology and touch sense interested.
5.0 CONCEPT
This media sparkle is projected on a surface with a video camera capturing the interaction from beneath with sound at every graphical visual formed on the surface through the interaction with the surface with the user's fingure tips. Graphical circular visuals in different Colors will be projected every time the user gets to interact with the surface.
6.0 ANTICIPATED OUTPUT
A fully functional Media Sparkle surface with the objectives mentioned above projected in the interactive installation.
7.0 SCOPE
A Media sparkle should capture attention and interest to the users and have another understanding on the concept of touch through the interaction with their their natural hands.
8.0 METHODOLOGY
An Media Sparkle will be created using flash, computer, video camera, sensors, speakers and projector. The Media Sparkle will be implemented using flash scripting.
9.0 INSPIRATIONS

Social / User Behaviour
Social / User Behavior
A social behavior pointed directly towards society is the BRANDED BEHAVIOR in Malaysia where the quality and price of a product are a big deal for example Gucci has expensive products with high quality but people choose to go to china town to buy the same product, with low quality but cheaper. This means that people can create the same product but different quality with different prices at that.
The behavior in this case shows that society is economical, they want high quality products but they don’t want to spend, they rather acquire a cheap one with low quality as long as the product is the same. When you look at a Gucci bag in a Gucci shop it looks so expensive and even the price puts u off (RM 300) and when one goes to china town and sees the same bag at (RM 50) and both bags do the same job, you wouldn’t blame society for having duplications of different quality but doing the same function.
This kind of behavior in society makes a real Gucci shop go at a loss sometimes and that’s when you find a SALE of about 50% -70% because they want to clear the product and bring in new products this is when society is motivated to acquire the products because the SALE is on hence cheaper.
This branded behavior encourages greater market in china town and hence encourages more duplication of products with the same brand name but with low quality yet cheaper. So the china town market will acquire more than the Gucci shop in midvalley.
Sometimes the high quality Gucci products will be acquired by tourists on vacation because they are willing to spend on a brand that looks trustworthy and of high quality.
In a Gucci shop there is nothing like bargaining because the prices are fixed you either take it or leave it, BUT in china town u can bargain until you are comfortable with the price you want to take the product at hence motivation for the same product but different prices because of the difference in places of sale and display.
Most times one will not wait for the SALE to start because they need the product urgently and so they find themselves in China town looking for the same products at a cheaper price and actually acquire it despite the quality difference.
People taking the initiative to duplicate a product is also not in their own liking, it’s because they know they can actually earn from duplicating products because not everyone can afford the same product at that high price so hence the duplication to cater for those that have less to spend on a relatively rational item. Not everyone can afford such expensive products so it’s also fair that those that have little money are catered for and that’s why we have places like china town to rescue society in need of the same product, different qualities for the same purpose.
If one acquired a bag from a Gucci shop and another person acquired the same bag from china town, that same product is doing the same purpose, you wouldn’t tell the price at which the bags where bought at neither would you tell the quality. So branded behavior is rather less of a big a deal because we all gain from the both sides.

IDEA DEVELOPMENT 2
A study on water movement in a swirl or rather a curly swirl in photoshop.Showing the different movements of water and the beauty it brings out.
WILLIAM ASHWORTH quotes "Children of a culture born in a water-rich environment, we have never really learned how important water is to us. We understand it, but we do not respect it."
Some Water sounds
Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe quotes "The underlying attraction of the movement of water and sand is biological. If we look more deeply we can see it as the basis of an abstract idea linking ourselves with the limitless mechanics of the universe."
i have sounds of calm waters, soothing water sounds, dripping water sounds and some sounds of flowing water.
Content Development
To begin with, When I was young I used to think that water came from the kitchen sink. But now I'm older, and I know, that water comes from rain and snow.It stays there, waiting,in the sky,in clouds above our world so high.Frozen water becomes ice,Boiled water makes steam.I like water in a fountain Or in a flowing stream.
Rain drops or water drops are heavy when they drop they form Curly swirls, like the fountains in a compound, open area or fun park. Water is fun to play with or play in like a swimming pool, when taking a cold shower or even that beautiful water in spring or Autumn or even summer.
When the beautifully colored leaves fall into the waters in spring,Autumn they form a color impression and make a day brighter and one thing is learned out of that and that is "colors" or better still color wheel, because of the different shades of colors in an open space. when the sun is out and the skies are blue and reflect into an ocean or just a glass of water, there is beauty in there the blue skies projected are beautiful.
So in a way,my installation will include sound and visuals, sounds of water dropping, moving and the visuals will include leaves of different shades, flowers, water and colored visuals and the examples are showed above.
Sound that complements an animation at a fingure tip touch on the surface, when there is a touch on the surface an animation of like water in curly swirl forms will appear with a particular water sound, then again if there is a touch on the surface animation of like different colored leaves, flowers will appear still with particular sounds.
When it comes to color usage, a detail understanding is personally understood interms of color blendings, facts about color usage in my study are that Color affects every facet of our lives. The way we react to colors is a combination of biological, social and cultural reasons. Color has the ability to soothe and also to stimulate us.
A color is described as cool or warm depending on its position in the color spectrum and the hues of its nearest neighboring color.Warm colors project the hot hues of sunlight and promote a feeling of warmth in a room. They advance space and are used to make walls appear closer. Cool colors reflect the fresh violets and blues of moonlight. They enhance the space in a room by making the walls appear further away.
Red, orange and yellow are warm colors, while violet and blue are cool colors. Green is said to be the most neutral color.i took some time to consider the effects of color on the individuals who will be frequenting the environment you create when decorating. When choosing color take into account whether you are trying to soothe or stimulate, and be aware of the effects of color on the well-being of the inhabitants you are decorating for.

Proposal 1
0.0 TITLE: Art gesture-body gestures
1.0 INTRODUCTION
An Art gesture-body gestures (interactive installation) Installation that will respond to the user’s environment via input from an overhead video camera. Custom video tracking and drawing outputs changing wall projection in response to the visitors’ activities in the space. The existence, positions, and behaviors of various parts of the projected image depend entirely on people’s presence and movement in the exhibit area or space. The graphics that will be created for interaction will interact with the user’s body and for every movement the user makes the graphics follow the body and when the user stands still the graphics will pile up in that position.
2.0 BACKGROUND
I got this idea right in front of my mirror, when I was making some body movements and gestures and visualized it in a sense of interaction with an installation that would be interacted with body gestures projected on a wall.
2.1 JUSTIFICATION
The issue behind this idea is to bring about body stretching in public areas, like when people are waiting somewhere for like a train or bus at the bus stop,Even at home when i see my parents working out in the morning and doing some small exercises they can stretch and make their day full of energy and waiting at the bus stop fun and interesting with this installation at their disposal.
3.0 OBJECTIVES
To create an aesthetic system this responds fluidly and intriguingly to physical movement in the exhibit space.
To experience a continual flow of unique and fleeting moments.
To create an aesthetic system that responds fluidly using
organic shapes to physical movement.
To portray an aesthetic art to respond to physical movement.
To create a sense of exploration and an eye opener to beauty exposed in digital form.
4.0 TARGET AUDIENCE
Am targeting students interested in interaction and installation and audience that has an eye for multimedia or inter media.
5.0 ANTICIPATED OUTPUT
A fully functional Art gesture-body gestures (interactive installation) with the objectives mentioned above projected in the interactive installation.
6.0 SCOPE
An Art gesture-body gestures (interactive installation) should capture attention and interest to the user and have another understanding on the concept of gesture art through the interaction with their bodies.

I got this idea when i was playing in water with my fingure tips and every time i placed my fingure tips in water there were circular visuals that i CLEARLY AND CLOSELY saw and so i brought it to an idea of what if its projected on a surface how beautiful would it look?
2.1 JUSTIFICATION
The issue behind this idea is to bring about a color wheel from paper to interactive installation. Animated interactive experience of color communication and color symbolism.
3.0 OBJECTIVES
To create a system that responds friendly to physical/natural touch on the surface.
To experience a continual flow of unique and fleeting touch.
To portray art and beauty through response to physical touch.
To create a sense of exploration and an eye opener to beauty exposed in digital form or installation.
4.0 TARGET AUDIENCE
Am targeting students interested in interaction and installation and audience that has an eye for color in multimedia.
5.0 ANTICIPATED OUTPUT
A fully functional Media Sparkle with the objectives mentioned above projected in the interactive installation.
6.0 SCOPE
A Media sparkle should capture attention and interest to the users and have another understanding on the concept of touch through the interaction with their figure tips.
7.0 METHODOLOGY

Proposal 3
0.0 TITLE: Photo sharing(Mobile interaction with installation)
1.0 INTRODUCTION
One of the most promising possibilities for supporting user interaction with public displays is the use of personal mobile phones. Furthermore, by utilizing Blue tooth users should have the capability to interact with displays. However, despite the relative maturity of Blue tooth as a standard and its widespread adoption in today’s mobile phones, little exploration seems to have taken place in this area - despite its apparent significant potential. This idea describes the findings of an exploratory study involving my Photo sharing Display which has been extended to enable users with a suitable phone to both send and receive pictures over Blue tooth. I present both the technical challenges of working with Blue tooth and, through my user study.
2.0 BACKGROUND
One exciting avenue for supporting user interaction with situated/public displays is the use of personal mobile phones. ‘Historically’, one obvious drawback of using mobile phones has been cost. However, by utilizing Blue tooth users should have the capability to interact with something without costs.
2.1 JUSTIFICATION
Blue tooth into an installation usage.
3.0 OBJECTIVES
To ascertain the technical feasibility of the idea, i.e. to identify the key technical challenges to working with Blue tooth technology.
To carry out an initial user study in order to gain insights into general user acceptability issues.
4.0 TARGET AUDIENCE
Everyone with a mobile phone.
5.0 ANTICIPATED OUTPUT
A fully functional projected installation for interaction with a mobile phone for photo sharing by use of number pressing on the phone that is 1, 2, 3, 4 to acquire a photo for the user's choice.
6.0 SCOPE
An installation for mobile interaction should capture attention and interest to the users and have another understanding on the concept of photo sharing through the interaction with numbers(1,2,3,4) on the phone.
7.0 METHODOLOGY
An installation for mobile interaction will be created using flash, computer, blue tooth, and projector. The photo sharing will be implemented using flash scripting. A survey will be conducted online and even through email to collect data and information and intense research in addition.

Structure for the Design Project proposal
IDEA 1
1. Topic: Fashion photography(Marketing campaign).
2. Background: Fashion photography is a wonderful mixture of artistic and commercial photography. The essence in the fashion photography is to capture the objective of fashion and make the fashion appealing to the consumers.History of contemporary fashion, Fashion Trends, historic aspects and the evolution of fashion photography.
3. Problem identification: The most important problems of fashion photography that are faced by photographers are: photographic tests, models management, advertising and editorial reality. I will focus on the problem of advertising.
4. Idealization: Different aspects of fashion photography, Commercial, glamour, fashion, beauty, National & International agencies, Fashion shows, Portraits, Documentaries, Photo-shoot studio, Portfolio, Nature, Beauty, Showroom, Still life.
* Critical – analytical study of fashion photography image in advertising.
* Critical – analytical study of use of fashion photography in advertising.
*Photographic techniques in fashion photography:
* Photographic exercises aimed at the resolution of technical and projectual problems in fashion photography.
* Methods and techniques for beauty shooting.
* Study of lighting
* Models tests
* Relationships with models agencies
*Beauty photography
My idea is to create an advertising and marketing magazine for fashion photography and an application of a slide show of mouse over and a nice way of the photo zooming in to display for viewing.
5. Concept: The perception of the message in advertising communication should be more and more immediate. Communication starts from an image which should be able to transfer sensations, concepts, life styles before than a technical information that requires analysis. This is the role of Fashion Photography: to catch the reader’s attention and focus him/her on the product or brand analysis.
6. Aim and Objectives:* To capture the objective of fashion.
* To captivate shoppers and impress them with the quality of photography.
*To understand the fashion in the clothes or product.
*To influence and create a feeling, emotion or opinion in the viewer(advertise, think).
*To express or to show the photographers emotions, feelings, etc. (mainly artistic/Design expression in photography).
*To portray beauty, style and impression in focus.
7. Motivation: Am motivated by the fashion trends, styles and beauty.
8. Review, Analysis and precedence studies
9. Design Approach: Promotional magazine on fashion, Photography website slide show on the fashion trends.

IDEA 2
1. Topic: HIV/AIDS awareness campaign
2. Background: AIDS is one of the most serious, deadly diseases in human history. More than 20 years ago, doctors in the United States identified the first cases of AIDS in San Francisco and New York. Now there are an estimated 42 million people living with HIV or AIDS worldwide, and more than 3 million die every year from AIDS-related illnesses. AIDS is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). AIDS IN FULL is Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
3. Problem identification: AIDS is caused by HIV. HIV is a virus that gradually attacks immune system cells. As HIV progressively damages these cells, the body becomes more vulnerable to infections, which it will have difficulty in fighting off. It is at the point of very advanced HIV infection that a person is said to have AIDS. It can be years before HIV has damaged the immune system enough for AIDS to develop.
4. Idealization:My conscious defense or rather my ideal idea is to design a T-shirt, a logo 4 the T-shirt, create brochures, calendars,Handkerchiefs with the logo on and ribbons since its an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign. Create a slogan ""
5. Concept: ACTIVITIES
· Develop awareness and sensitization package and strategy
· Develop and reproduce materials
· Train and sensitization/awareness team members
· Conduct sensitization activities
6. Aim and Objectives: To increase knowledge about HIV/AIDS transmission among youths.
To increase the incidence of safe HIV/AIDS practices and behaviors among 100 targeted youths and their families in one month.
To enhance knowledge on HIV/AIDS prevention, transmission and care among 100 targeted rural youths.
To reduce the number of new HIV infections (especially among youth).
To reduce the impact of HIV and AIDS on individuals, families and communities.
7. Motivation:
8. Review, Analysis and precedence studies:
9. Design Approach: Designing a poster, slogan, T-shirt with a logo, calendar, Brochures, Handkerchiefs and ribbons.

2. Background: I got this idea right in front of my mirror, when i was making some body movements and gestures and visualized it in a sense of interaction with an installation that would be interacted with body gestures projected on a wall.
3. Problem identification: Making an interactive installation from the idea of a mirror, with some animated gestures.
4. Idealization: I visualize sets of animated marks whose behaviors are controlled by people’s movements and the composition balances responses and is immediately clear, with responses that feel connected to participant’s movements. Interaction is between the body gestures and the installation.
5. Concept: The Installations respond to their environment via input from an overhead video camera. Custom video tracking and drawing outputs changing wall projection in response to the visitors’ activities in the space. The existence, positions, and behaviors of various parts of the projected image depend entirely on people’s presence and movement in the exhibit area.
6. Aim and Objectives: To create an aesthetic system which responds fluidly and intriguingly to physical movement in the exhibit space.
To experience a continual flow of unique and fleeting moments.
To create an aesthetic system that responds fluidly using painterly,
organic shapes to physical movement.
To portray an aesthetic art to respond to physical movement.
7. Motivation: This Motivation developed from the gestures i made while in the mirror and it opened my mind to create something from such an idea.
8. Review, Analysis and precedence studies:
*My idea is for body gestures in space with animated textile and some animated designs which are controlled by people's movements.
9. Design Approach: Using video tracking ,i engage a whole bod with response to spatial relations. In an attempt to engage people both with design and using the interactive aspect, i create aesthetically pleasing relationships between the real and virtual. I believe the work is related to issues with virtual reality and general relationships.
10. Planning: My plan is to trying to create a playful yet intriguing piece of interactive installation. I want the users to have fun playing with the interaction and for the interaction to operate without guidance. Users will investigate with the piece and natural intuition would be enough for them to see the installation working.
