Social / User Behaviour

Social / User Behavior

A social behavior pointed directly towards society is the BRANDED BEHAVIOR in Malaysia where the quality and price of a product are a big deal for example Gucci has expensive products with high quality but people choose to go to china town to buy the same product, with low quality but cheaper. This means that people can create the same product but different quality with different prices at that.

The behavior in this case shows that society is economical, they want high quality products but they don’t want to spend, they rather acquire a cheap one with low quality as long as the product is the same. When you look at a Gucci bag in a Gucci shop it looks so expensive and even the price puts u off (RM 300) and when one goes to china town and sees the same bag at (RM 50) and both bags do the same job, you wouldn’t blame society for having duplications of different quality but doing the same function.

This kind of behavior in society makes a real Gucci shop go at a loss sometimes and that’s when you find a SALE of about 50% -70% because they want to clear the product and bring in new products this is when society is motivated to acquire the products because the SALE is on hence cheaper.

This branded behavior encourages greater market in china town and hence encourages more duplication of products with the same brand name but with low quality yet cheaper. So the china town market will acquire more than the Gucci shop in midvalley.

Sometimes the high quality Gucci products will be acquired by tourists on vacation because they are willing to spend on a brand that looks trustworthy and of high quality.

In a Gucci shop there is nothing like bargaining because the prices are fixed you either take it or leave it, BUT in china town u can bargain until you are comfortable with the price you want to take the product at hence motivation for the same product but different prices because of the difference in places of sale and display.

Most times one will not wait for the SALE to start because they need the product urgently and so they find themselves in China town looking for the same products at a cheaper price and actually acquire it despite the quality difference.

People taking the initiative to duplicate a product is also not in their own liking, it’s because they know they can actually earn from duplicating products because not everyone can afford the same product at that high price so hence the duplication to cater for those that have less to spend on a relatively rational item. Not everyone can afford such expensive products so it’s also fair that those that have little money are catered for and that’s why we have places like china town to rescue society in need of the same product, different qualities for the same purpose.

If one acquired a bag from a Gucci shop and another person acquired the same bag from china town, that same product is doing the same purpose, you wouldn’t tell the price at which the bags where bought at neither would you tell the quality. So branded behavior is rather less of a big a deal because we all gain from the both sides.

MEDIA SPARKLE Idea Enhancement

COLOR QUOTES(Mind Generated)

QUOTE 1 "People observe the colors of a day only at its beginnings and endings, but to me it's quite clear that a day merges through a multitude of shades and intonations, with each passing moment. A single hour can consist of thousands of different colors. Murky darkness. In my line of work, I make it a point to notice them."
~jacque~DM

QUOTE 2 "The idea of linking color and behavior is reasonable enough. Anyone who has ever felt blue, seen red, blacked out, or turned green knows we're prone to make emotional associations with different shades." ~jacque~DM

QUOTE 3 "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." ~jacque~DM

Proposal 2(Enhancement)

0.0 TITLE: MEDIA SPARKLE

1.0 INTRODUCTION

A Media sparkle is an interactive surface that will induce sparkle(color usage)in terms of beauty and will respond to the user's activity with his/her fingure tips, where by the user will place a fingure on any area of the sparkle base and continuous circles, flowers, butterflies, leaves of different color animations will show up and when the user's fingure is withdrawn, the animations will also withdraw. The beauty in fashion patterns and color combinations will be displayed in this form of installation.

2.0 BACKGROUND

I got this idea when i was playing in water with my fingure tips and every time i placed my fingure tips in water there were circular visuals that i CLEARLY AND CLOSELY saw and so i brought it to an idea of what if its projected on a surface how beautiful would it look?

2.1 JUSTIFICATION(motivation)

The issue behind this idea is to have experience, to explore digitized colors, use of space to enhance digital knowledge and also bring about a color wheel from paper to interactive installation. Animated interactive experience of color communication and color symbolism.

3.0 OBJECTIVES

To create a system that responds friendly to physical/natural touch on the surface.
To experience a continual flow of unique and fleeting touch.
To portray art and beauty through response to physical touch.
To create a sense of exploration and an eye opener to beauty exposed in digital form or installation.
To enhance digital knowledge.

IDEA DEVELOPMENT 2

A study on water movement in a swirl or rather a curly swirl in photoshop.Showing the different movements of water and the beauty it brings out.
WILLIAM ASHWORTH quotes "Children of a culture born in a water-rich environment, we have never really learned how important water is to us. We understand it, but we do not respect it."

Some Water sounds
Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe quotes "The underlying attraction of the movement of water and sand is biological. If we look more deeply we can see it as the basis of an abstract idea linking ourselves with the limitless mechanics of the universe."

i have sounds of calm waters, soothing water sounds, dripping water sounds and some sounds of flowing water.

Content Development
To begin with, When I was young I used to think that water came from the kitchen sink. But now I'm older, and I know, that water comes from rain and snow.It stays there, waiting,in the sky,in clouds above our world so high.Frozen water becomes ice,Boiled water makes steam.I like water in a fountain Or in a flowing stream.

Rain drops or water drops are heavy when they drop they form Curly swirls, like the fountains in a compound, open area or fun park. Water is fun to play with or play in like a swimming pool, when taking a cold shower or even that beautiful water in spring or Autumn or even summer.

When the beautifully colored leaves fall into the waters in spring,Autumn they form a color impression and make a day brighter and one thing is learned out of that and that is "colors" or better still color wheel, because of the different shades of colors in an open space. when the sun is out and the skies are blue and reflect into an ocean or just a glass of water, there is beauty in there the blue skies projected are beautiful.

So in a way,my installation will include sound and visuals, sounds of water dropping, moving and the visuals will include leaves of different shades, flowers, water and colored visuals and the examples are showed above.

Sound that complements an animation at a fingure tip touch on the surface, when there is a touch on the surface an animation of like water in curly swirl forms will appear with a particular water sound, then again if there is a touch on the surface animation of like different colored leaves, flowers will appear still with particular sounds.

When it comes to color usage, a detail understanding is personally understood interms of color blendings, facts about color usage in my study are that Color affects every facet of our lives. The way we react to colors is a combination of biological, social and cultural reasons. Color has the ability to soothe and also to stimulate us.

A color is described as cool or warm depending on its position in the color spectrum and the hues of its nearest neighboring color.Warm colors project the hot hues of sunlight and promote a feeling of warmth in a room. They advance space and are used to make walls appear closer. Cool colors reflect the fresh violets and blues of moonlight. They enhance the space in a room by making the walls appear further away.

Red, orange and yellow are warm colors, while violet and blue are cool colors. Green is said to be the most neutral color.i took some time to consider the effects of color on the individuals who will be frequenting the environment you create when decorating. When choosing color take into account whether you are trying to soothe or stimulate, and be aware of the effects of color on the well-being of the inhabitants you are decorating for.

Proposal 3

0.0 TITLE: Photo sharing(Mobile interaction with installation)

1.0 INTRODUCTION
One of the most promising possibilities for supporting user interaction with public displays is the use of personal mobile phones. Furthermore, by utilizing Blue tooth users should have the capability to interact with displays. However, despite the relative maturity of Blue tooth as a standard and its widespread adoption in today’s mobile phones, little exploration seems to have taken place in this area - despite its apparent significant potential. This idea describes the findings of an exploratory study involving my Photo sharing Display which has been extended to enable users with a suitable phone to both send and receive pictures over Blue tooth. I present both the technical challenges of working with Blue tooth and, through my user study.

2.0 BACKGROUND
One exciting avenue for supporting user interaction with situated/public displays is the use of personal mobile phones. ‘Historically’, one obvious drawback of using mobile phones has been cost. However, by utilizing Blue tooth users should have the capability to interact with something without costs.

2.1 JUSTIFICATION
Blue tooth into an installation usage.

3.0 OBJECTIVES
To ascertain the technical feasibility of the idea, i.e. to identify the key technical challenges to working with Blue tooth technology.
To carry out an initial user study in order to gain insights into general user acceptability issues.

4.0 TARGET AUDIENCE
Everyone with a mobile phone.

5.0 ANTICIPATED OUTPUT
A fully functional projected installation for interaction with a mobile phone for photo sharing by use of number pressing on the phone that is 1, 2, 3, 4 to acquire a photo for the user's choice.

6.0 SCOPE
An installation for mobile interaction should capture attention and interest to the users and have another understanding on the concept of photo sharing through the interaction with numbers(1,2,3,4) on the phone.

7.0 METHODOLOGY
An installation for mobile interaction will be created using flash, computer, blue tooth, and projector. The photo sharing will be implemented using flash scripting. A survey will be conducted online and even through email to collect data and information and intense research in addition.
